Once you have earned enough points, you can start building your personal library! Here is how to use your points to request books and how the system protects your balance during transactions.
1. Requesting Books #
The primary way to spend points is by requesting books from the Central Library or the P2P Marketplace.
- Checking the Cost: Every book listed on the platform has a specific “Point Cost” displayed next to it. This price is calculated based on the book’s genre, condition, and market value.
- Making a Request: When you click the “Request Book” button, the system first checks two things:
- Balance: Do you have enough points to cover the cost?
- Quota: Do you have an available “Request Slot” in your subscription plan?.
2. The Escrow System: Why are my points “Held”? #
You might notice that after you request a book, your points don’t disappear immediately—instead, they move to a “Held” or “Escrow” status. This is a safety feature designed to protect you.
- How it works:
- Locked: When you request a book, the points are “locked” in a secure holding account. You cannot spend them elsewhere, but the library (or book owner) hasn’t received them yet.
- Released: The points are only transferred to the book owner once you confirm that you have received the book in good condition.
- Refunded: If the request is rejected, cancelled, or if the book never arrives, the points are instantly released back to your available balance.
3. Transferring Points to Other Users #
You can also spend your points by sending them directly to another member (e.g., helping a friend get their first book).
- How to Transfer:
- Navigate to your Wallet Dashboard.
- Select the “Transfer Points” option.
- Enter the recipient’s User ID and the amount you wish to send.
- Important Note: Point transfers are final and cannot be reversed by the user. Please double-check the User ID before confirming.
