Once you have points in your wallet, you are ready to request books. The process is designed to be simple, but there are a few requirements you must meet before a request can be processed.
1. Browsing the Catalog #
To find a book, navigate to the Library page (using the
shortcode).
Library Catalog #
- Availability: The library only displays books that are currently marked as “Available”. If a book is “Reserved” or “Checked Out,” it will not appear in the main available list.
- Book Details: Click on any book cover to see its full details, including Author, Genre, Condition, and the Point Cost required to request it.
2. Delivery Profiles (Required Step) #
Before you can place your first request, you must set up a Delivery Profile. This ensures we know exactly where to send your books.
- What is it? A Delivery Profile saves your Name, Phone Number, and Shipping Address (or preferred Pickup Station).
- How to set it up:
- Go to your Account Settings or the Delivery Profiles section.
- Click “Add New Profile.”
- Enter your contact details and address. You can save multiple profiles (e.g., “Home” vs. “Office”) and mark one as Default.
- Requirement: The system will block any request attempt if you do not have at least one active delivery profile.
3. Placing a Request #
When you find a book you want:
- Click the Request Book button.
- System Checks: The system immediately performs three checks:
- Balance: Do you have enough points?
- Quota: Do you have an available “Library Slot” in your subscription? (e.g., Free users are limited to 1 active request).
- Profile: Do you have a valid delivery profile?
- Confirmation: If all checks pass, the points are deducted from your balance and held in Escrow.
- Status: The book status changes to “Reserved”, preventing anyone else from requesting it while the admin processes your order.
4. Shipping & Costs #
- Shipping Costs: Depending on the platform’s current settings and your location, shipping fees may apply. These are often handled separately from your point balance or deducted if “Free Shipping” is not included in your tier.
- Tracking: Once the library admin ships your book, your transaction status will update to “Shipped”. You will receive an email notification with a Tracking Number (if available) to monitor your delivery.
